A Saddlers Daughter

Always be curious..

Marlee Horobin, the daughter of renowned saddle maker Peter Horobin is first and foremost always curious.

For over a decade, curiosity has allowed Marlee to develop a deep knowledge and appreciation of how to communicate a story.

Combined with a prolific creative spirit, Marlee is continuing to learn how to master her creative voice, and use these skills to communicate the work.

Currently on the pulse of equine welfare, Marlee has been very lucky to have been able to develop a deep understanding of how this movement has reached a catalyst for change through over 15 years working with trailblazers in the industry of equine welfare.

Designing and manufacturing saddles at Peter Horobin Saddlery for equine back health has allowed an observation of how the equestrian and racing industry has evolved to be able to have a much richer understanding of equine back health and how it can affect performance.

As celebrated as these spaces are, the work is never complete. With over 32 countries travelled, 42 trade exhibitions experienced, a successful design market co-founded and sold, a handbag collection developed, jewellery pieces curated, fundraising for asian elephant conservation & working in international trade. The work is always evolving, Marlee is continuing to enjoy the journey. Now, it’s your turn to discover the core values of the work as the daughter of a saddler.

Elephant Welfare

At Human Elephant Learning Programs we educate with systematic, evidence-based techniques to improve the welfare of elephants in Asia. Our role is to provide education and support to handlers and the wider elephant community.

As chair (and now board member) Marlee’s role is to add value to the cause by implementing framework & strategies for the renowned Dr Andrew McLean’s work to continue for the next generation.

Equine Welfare

The view of Equine Welfare for Marlee is to raise awareness about our accountability. Everyone who is involved with horses has a responsibility to look after them. Work in this area consists of a variety of both equine back health through saddle fit in the equestrian and racing industry along with contributing to Life After Jumps Racing.

MArketing & Communications

Marketing & Communications is an area which continues to evolve and one thing Marlee does is evolve with it. Constantly in tune with the expectations of culture, the way people shop, solving problems and creating strategy.

Identifying demographics and creating stories to fit into the life of the consumer is an area of expertise.

Marlee has helped me immensely throughout my career.

Opening my eyes, to how important equine back health is for performance.

Marlee is always on call to help wherever she can and her professionalism is first class.

I’m extremely lucky to work with someone as passionate as I am about our horses.
